"And David was the father of Solomon by the wife of Uriah." (Matthew 1:6) Why did matthew choose to leave Bathsheba's name out of Jesus' lineage? Did he think about leaving her out completely? Was he trying to shame her? We may never know the answer to as to why; however, when we look at Bathsheba's story I believe we understand the reason we celebrate Christmas. Christmas isn't the story of perfect people finding God; it's the story of a perfect God who loves His people with a relentless and redeeming love.
