Words are important; they shape our thoughts, influence our emotions, and set the course for our actions. Matthew records for us the first words of Jesus which began His earthly ministry, "Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near." Before His miracles, before His healings, before calling His first disciples; He spoke, and if words are important, then His very first words are equally important because they set the stage for His earthly ministry.
