Where Your Treasure Is

Matthew 16:19-21; Philippians 4:19
Jesus said where your treasure is, your heart will be also. Our spending reveals our true priorities more accurately than our words. We can claim to love God while spending thousands on hobbies and entertainment, but what does that communicate about where our heart truly resides? God doesn't need our money—He owns everything. But He wants our hearts, and our giving is the thermometer that reveals the temperature of our devotion. Selfish generosity means we keep giving because it brings God glory and fills us with joy. It's selfish in effect, not motive—we benefit immensely from blessing others. In these uncertain times, when government shutdowns leave people unpaid and SNAP benefits disappear, God calls us to be His hands and feet. Examine your budget today. Does it reflect the priorities of someone whose treasure is in heaven?
