True Repentance vs. Empty Faith

2 Corinthians 7:8-11

Feeling guilty isn't the same as repenting. Judas felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver, but he never truly repented—he simply couldn't live with the consequences. King Saul confessed his sin but blamed others and sought to preserve his reputation. True repentance, however, is "godly sorrow" that produces a change you cannot fake. It's the Greek word metanoeo—changing your mind so deeply that it changes you. Repentance isn't wallowing in guilt or making empty confessions; it's turning away from sin and turning toward Someone. It's not turning over a new leaf but turning toward a new life. Today, ask God to reveal any areas where you've confused regret with repentance, and take one concrete step toward genuine change.
