Worthy of Life
Romans 5:6-11; Ephesians 2:1-10
We were broken ornaments deserving the trash can of hell. That's the harsh reality of our condition apart from Christ. Like those deemed to have "a life unworthy of life" in history's darkest moments, we stood condemned. But God—rich in mercy, overflowing with love—looked upon His creation and declared us worthy. Not because of anything we did, but because of who He is. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. He paid a price He didn't owe for people who owed a debt they couldn't repay. This is the heart of Advent: God saw your brokenness and said, "You are so worthy of my love, my grace, my compassion." You don't have to earn it, perform for it, or prove yourself. You are already worthy because He says you are.
What does it mean practically to 'step out of the boat' and surrender our hearts to God when our personal walls are literally and figuratively falling down around us?
The scarlet cord in Rahab's window symbolized God's promise of protection and redemption. How does the blood-stained cross serve as an evern greater covenant promise for us today?
