The Sacrifice of Praise

Hebrews 13:15-16

Praise is called a "sacrifice" because sometimes it costs us something. It requires laying down our right to complain, our desire to be understood, our need for justice. When life hurts and praise feels impossible, that's when it becomes sacrificial worship—the kind that moves heaven. The Hebrew word for sacrifice implies something valuable being given up. Your praise in pain is precious to God because it demonstrates trust that transcends understanding. It declares that He is worthy even when life isn't fair. This sacrifice doesn't ignore reality; it chooses to exalt God above reality. Through Jesus, we continually offer this sacrifice—not once, but as a lifestyle. Your hard-fought hallelujah honors God more than a thousand easy amens.

Reflection Question: What would it look like to offer God a sacrifice of praise in your current struggle?
