Surrender Over Self - The Battle Within

Romans 7:14-25; Matthew 16:24-26
Paul's honest confession in Romans 7 resonates with every believer: "I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate." This internal war between flesh and Spirit rages in each of us. We live in an age that worships self-determination and personal preference, yet Jesus calls us to something entirely opposite—daily surrender. Taking up your cross isn't a one-time decision; it's a minute-by-minute choice to deny yourself and follow Him. We cannot serve God's law with our minds while serving sin's law with our bodies. Victory comes only through surrender—presenting ourselves as living sacrifices, which is our spiritual worship. The good news? We don't fight this battle alone. The Holy Spirit empowers us to choose obedience over preference, holiness over comfort. Today, identify one area where your will conflicts with God's, and practice surrender.
