Truth and Love Together

Mark 10:17-22; 1 John 4:18

Before Jesus challenged the rich young ruler, Scripture tells us He looked at him and loved him. That sequence matters deeply. Correction without love is cruelty. Love without truth is cowardice. Jesus held both in perfect tension. The young man walked away not because he was rejected, but because he was unwilling to loosen his grip on what he had accumulated. His wealth was not the problem. His attachment to it was. First John 4:18 declares that perfect love drives out fear. When we are rooted in the love of God, we are freed from the fear of surrender. What are you holding that God is asking you to release?

Personal Reflection: Is there something in your life, a possession, a relationship, a habit, or a reputation, that you are unwilling to surrender to God?

Practical Application: Spend time in prayer today asking the Holy Spirit to reveal any area of your heart where fear of loss is preventing full surrender to God.
