Tooted and Grounded

Jeremiah 17:5-8

The 400-year-old live oak in Manteo has survived hurricanes, wars, and floods—not because of luck, but because of roots. Jeremiah contrasts those who trust in human strength with those rooted in God. The storms will come—loss, betrayal, disappointment, suffering—but those planted by the rivers of God's love remain unshaken. Your stability doesn't depend on favorable circumstances; it depends on where you're rooted. Shallow roots produce shallow faith that withers when tested. But when you're deeply established in Christ's love, you stand firm through the hottest summers and driest droughts. The depth of your roots determines the fruit of your life.

Reflection Question: Where are your roots planted—in temporary circumstances or eternal love?
