Choosing Church Over Self
Philippians 2:1-11
Paul challenges us to do nothing from selfish ambition but in humility to regard others as more important than ourselves. Unity dies where egos live. When we insist on our preferences, protect our pride, or nurse old wounds, we grieve the Holy Spirit who works to build unity among God's people. Christ himself is our example—He didn't consider equality with God something to exploit but emptied Himself for our sake. The same mindset should characterize our relationships in the church. We're not solitary Christians; we're snowflakes that together can stop traffic. Examine your heart today. Are you holding onto preferences that hinder fellowship? Surrender your rights and choose the good of others, trusting God to work through your humility.
