The Power of Correction in Community

Proverbs 27:5-6; Hebrews 12:5-11

"Correction is not rejection—it's protection." King David received Nathan's rebuke and repented; his son Adonijah rejected accountability and fell. The difference? A heart transformed by the gospel receives correction as evidence of God's love. When we resist reproof, we stop growing. The writer of Hebrews reminds us that God disciplines those He loves, not to harm but to produce righteousness. Who in your life has permission to speak truth to you? Have you surrounded yourself with people who will challenge your blind spots, or only those who affirm your comfort? Peter needed Paul's confrontation to protect his calling and the unity of the church. Today, thank God for the faithful friends who love you enough to correct you, and ask for humility to receive their words with grace rather than defensiveness.
