Saved From and Saved For
Ephesians 2:8-10
Salvation is never only a rescue. It is always also a commission. The grace that pulls you out of the wreckage does not leave you standing safely on the shore watching others drown. It equips you and sends you back. John Harper understood this. As the Titanic sank beneath him, he was not consumed with preserving his own life. He was consumed with the eternal lives of those around him. That is not recklessness; that is clarity. When you understand what you have been saved from, and more importantly what you have been saved for, comfort loses its grip on you. The mission becomes more urgent than the convenience.
Personal Reflection: If someone observed your daily life for one week, would they conclude that you understand you have been saved for a purpose? What evidence would they find, and what evidence would be missing?
Practical Application: Think of one person in your life who does not yet know Jesus. Commit to praying for that person by name every day this week, and ask God to open a door for you to share your story with them.
