Grace Found You First

Titus 3:3-5

Before you ever searched for God, he was already searching for you. Paul's words in Titus 3 do not begin with a call to improvement. They begin with an honest reckoning of who we were without God -- foolish, disobedient, enslaved to passions, living in malice. And yet, into that condition, God's kindness appeared. Not because we earned it. Not because we cleaned ourselves up first. His mercy moved toward us while we were still a mess. Grace does not wait for you to become worthy. It arrives before worthiness is even a consideration. Rest today in the truth that you were pursued before you ever turned around.

Reflection: In what area of your life do you still feel you must earn God's favor before he will act on your behalf?

Practical Application: Write down one specific way God pursued you before you were looking for him. Thank him for it today.
