Stop Looking for the Water Pot

Proverbs 3:5-6; Isaiah 41:10

The Samaritan woman's first response to Jesus was entirely logical: you have no bucket and this well is deep. She was looking for the means before she could trust the miracle. We do the same thing. We tell God we trust Him, then spend our energy calculating how He could possibly work in our situation. Proverbs 3:5-6 calls us to lean not on our own understanding. Isaiah 41:10 promises that God will strengthen and uphold us. Both passages demand that we stop looking for the water pot and start trusting the One who does not need one. His methods are not limited by our logic.

Reflection Question: In what current situation are you waiting to trust God until you can see how He will work it out?

Practical Application: Choose one worry you have been mentally rehearsing. Write it down, then physically set the paper aside as a symbolic act of releasing your need to understand and choosing instead to trust.
