When We Miss the Mark

Reading: Romans 7:15-25 (Paul's honest confession about the struggle between the desire to do good and the reality of falling short)

Devotional: Peter declared with full confidence that he would never deny Jesus. Hours later, he stood by a fire and did exactly that -- three times. His failure was not born out of hatred for Jesus. It was born out of self-sufficiency, the belief that his own strength was enough. We do the same. We promise God faithfulness and then lean on ourselves when the pressure arrives. Missing the mark is painful, but it is not the end of the story. God does not abandon us in our failure. He meets us in it, and He is already working to redeem what we have broken.

Reflection Question: In what area of your life have you been relying on your own strength rather than surrendering to God?

Practical Application: Spend five minutes in honest prayer, confessing a specific area where you have fallen short, and ask God to replace your self-sufficiency with dependence on His Spirit.
