The Shoreline Encounter

Reading: John 21:15-19 (Jesus restores Peter beside the fire, asking three times whether Peter loves Him and commissioning him to care for others)

Devotional: Jesus did not send a message to Peter. He went to find him. He stood on the shoreline, started a fire, and waited. When Peter arrived, Jesus did not rehearse the denial or demand an explanation. He simply asked, do you love me? Three questions for three denials. Three commissions for three retreats. This is the character of God. He does not restore us by erasing what happened. He restores us by giving us a purpose that moves us forward. The mission does not disappear because you failed. Jesus is standing on the shoreline of your life right now, asking the same question He asked Peter.

Reflection Question: How have you been defining yourself by your failures rather than by the mission God has placed before you?

Practical Application: Read the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20. Write down one tangible way you can participate in that mission this week, starting in your own home or community.
