Condemnation Vs. Grace
John 8:1-11
The religious leaders brought a woman caught in adultery before Jesus, not out of concern for holiness, but to set a trap. They turned a person into a weapon. That is what condemnation does. It reduces people to their worst moments and uses their failures to advance an agenda. But Jesus knelt in the dust and wrote on the ground while the crowd demanded a verdict. He refused to be rushed into judgment. When he finally spoke, his words did not excuse sin, but they did not crush the sinner either. Grace always sees the person that condemnation wants to erase.
Reflection: Have you ever reduced someone to their worst mistake? Have you ever felt reduced to yours? How does it change your perspective to know that Jesus sees the whole person?
Practical Application: Think of one person you have been tempted to write off. Commit to praying for them by name every day this week, asking God to help you see them the way Jesus does.
