Loved While Still a Sinner
Romans 5:6-8 -- Paul reminds us that Christ did not wait for us to become worthy; he died for the ungodly while we were still weak, still sinning, still in rebellion.
It is one thing to love someone who is easy to love. It is another thing entirely to love someone at their worst. Yet that is precisely what God did. He did not love a cleaned-up version of you. He loved the version of you that was covered in sin, hostile toward him, and completely unable to save yourself. The sermon reminded us that God showed us how great our sin was, and he showed us how great his love is. That love was not a reaction to your goodness. It was a declaration of his. You did not earn it. You cannot lose it. Rest today in the love that found you before you ever went looking for it.

Practical Application: Confess one specific sin or struggle to God today, not to earn his love, but to practice receiving it without conditions.
