The Fear That Love Drives Out

1 John 4:18

John writes that perfect love leaves no room for fear, because fear is connected to the expectation of punishment, and those who are fully rooted in God's love are freed from that dread.

Fear is a powerful force. It keeps us guarded, isolated, and performing. We hide our insecurities because we are afraid that if people truly see us, they will walk away. The sermon reminded us that God's love is not a love that demands perfection before it shows up. It is a love that arrives in the middle of the mess. If God lives in you, his love also lives in you, which means you already possess the tools needed to love others the way you have been loved. You do not have to be afraid of being found out. You have already been fully known and fully chosen.

Reflection: What fear is currently driving your behavior in your relationships, your church community, or your walk with God?

Practical Application: Identify one area where fear has caused you to withdraw from community. Take one small, intentional step toward re-engaging this week.
