The Table Belongs To Everyone

Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:17-29 — Paul rebukes the Corinthian church for turning the Lord's Supper into an occasion for division, where some indulged while others went without, warning that to eat and drink without recognizing the body of Christ is to do so in an unworthy manner.

Devotional: The Corinthians had the bread. They had the cup. They had the gathering. But they had lost the meaning. Division had crept in and dressed itself up as fellowship. The meal that was meant to declare unity had become a mirror of the world's hierarchies. The pastor reminded us that we can have the right bread, the right cup, the right order of service, and still come to the table with a heart that is not right with Jesus. The Lord's Supper is not a private devotion. It is a communal declaration. Every person at that table was equally redeemed by the same blood. That changes everything about how we treat one another.

Reflection Question: Is there anyone in your church community whom you have treated as less deserving of belonging than yourself?

Practical Application: Identify one person in your church whom you tend to overlook or keep at a distance. Make a deliberate effort to acknowledge them warmly this week.
