One Body, One Table
1 Corinthians 12:12-13
Paul describes the church as one body made up of many different parts, all baptized by one Spirit into one unified whole, regardless of background or origin.
Sunday's message was honest about something many churches avoid saying out loud: division is real, preferences are real, and family trees and personal histories can become walls inside the very place meant to offer hope. Paul wrote to the Roman house churches because Jewish Christians and Gentile Christians refused to come together. The names and the issues change, but the problem is ancient. The Lord's Supper is not a private meal. It is a communal table of reconciliation. When we come to that table holding grudges, clinging to preferences, or treating the church as our own, we are missing the entire point of why Christ broke that bread. The table belongs to him. So does the church.
Reflection: Have you allowed personal preferences or past wounds to create distance between yourself and another member of your church body?
Practical Application: Before your next worship gathering, examine your heart. If there is unresolved division between you and another believer, take a step toward reconciliation before you take the Lord's Supper.
