Grace That Transforms, Not Just Forgives

Reading: Romans 5:6-11 — Paul declares that while we were still sinners, still weak, still enemies of God, Christ died for us, and through his blood we have been reconciled to the Father, saved from wrath, and given reason to boast in God alone.

Devotional: The pastor made a powerful distinction. Being saturated with grace is not only about saying no to the desires of our hearts. It is about saying yes to the desires of Jesus' heart for us. Grace does not simply clear our record and leave us unchanged. It transforms us from the inside out. It reshapes our desires, our loves, and the way we stand with one another. The same grace that reconciles us to God is the grace that calls us to welcome the person we might otherwise overlook, to serve the person we might otherwise expect to serve us, and to make room for the person whose differences make us uncomfortable.

Reflection Question: Are there areas of your life where you have accepted God's forgiveness but resisted his transformation?

Practical Application: Ask God today to identify one specific attitude or habit that grace is calling you to surrender. Write it down and pray over it daily for the remainder of this reading plan.
