Belonging to Christ Means Belonging to One Another

Reading: 1 Peter 2:9-10 — Peter describes believers as a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people belonging to God, called to declare the praises of the One who brought them out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Devotional: We live in a culture that celebrates the individual. Build your brand. Grow your following. Make your voice heard. But Peter describes something radically different. He describes a people — not a collection of individuals pursuing personal spiritual experiences, but a community formed by grace and defined by belonging. The pastor pointed out that Jesus only had twelve disciples, and we still talk about him today. His influence was not measured by a platform. It was measured by transformed lives sent into the world. You are not a lone believer. You are part of a royal priesthood. That identity was never meant to be lived in isolation.

Reflection Question: In what ways has the culture of individualism shaped how you approach your faith and your church community?

Practical Application: Write down two or three names of people in your church family. Pray specifically for each of them by name today, asking God to bless them and strengthen your bond with them.
