You Are Not a Disappointment

Luke 15:1-7 -- The parable of the shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to search for the one lost sheep, and who rejoices when it is found.

The world has a way of making you feel like a write-off. Your past speaks loudly. Your failures feel permanent. But the shepherd in this parable does not calculate acceptable losses. He leaves everything to find the one. That one is you. God does not sit back and wait for you to clean yourself up before he comes looking. He sends out an Amber Alert. He searches the dark places, the hard places, the places you are ashamed anyone would find you in. And when he finds you, there is no lecture. There is no probationary period. There is only a celebration. You are not a disappointment to the God who pursues you.

Reflection: In what area of your life have you believed the lie that you are too far gone for God to find you?

Application: Write down one way you have felt written off, and then write the words "God pursues me here" next to it. Carry it with you as a reminder today.
