The Father Who Runs
Luke 15:11-24 -- The parable of the prodigal son, who demands his inheritance, wastes it, and returns home expecting judgment, only to be met by a running father who restores him completely.
The younger son had a speech prepared. He had rehearsed his apology. He was ready to negotiate his way back into the household as a servant, not a son. But the father saw him while he was still far off. He did not wait for the boy to reach the door. He ran. He closed the distance. He embraced his son before the speech was even finished. This is the heart of God toward you. You may have wandered far. You may have spent everything you were given on things that left you empty. But the moment you turn toward home, the Father is already running toward you. Grace does not make you earn your way back. It meets you on the road.
Reflection: Have you been trying to negotiate your way back to God rather than simply receiving his grace? What would it look like to stop striving and let him run to you?
Application: Read John 3:17 today, which describes how Jesus came not to condemn the world but to save it. Sit with the truth that God's posture toward you is restoration, not condemnation.
